Post by daryo Tue May 05, 2009 7:47 am

Hey...

I'm on Vista now and i could never go back to XP...my question is...is 7 better than Vista? Can it run applications and games smoothly (like Vista does)???

Has anyone tried it? What is your oppinion???

hmm i think just a few days ago MS released the last beta edition for Win7
From what i have heard its im quite sure they r better. Personally i will stay on XP until win7 come in market and after the 1st patch release Razz
win7 will have the same environment with vista but they will be lighter, which means faster and less energy needed, and also they wont ask u 10 times about simple actions to make sure that u r sure Razz

You can always disable those...

Yes thay have released RC - release candidate version. I'm not sure about the drivers for my hardware. Haven't checked that yet.

UAC can stay on and prevent shit happening to your computer in 7 without getting the feeling its bugging you.
Games will run smoother, gave me 10 extra fps in cod4 just changing from vista to 7
It uses Vista drivers with no problem at the moment both 32bit and 64bit, windows update also automaticly downloads all the drivers you need and installs them for you. installed RC on the laptop few weeks ago. Could use it right off the start. It even found a driver for my fingerprint scanner which I've spent countless hours looking for before. The driver errors is what caused vistas bad reputation IMO. Used windows 7 for a good two months now and this is by far the better one from Microsoft. No need to worries about a the service packs Jim, theres no current need. It runs smooth with no crashes or errors and its faster then vista and XP on most fields during my testing time.. I'm so satisfied I'm spending money on it when its released.

well basically i w8 for the fist SP for security reasons if stability is no problem. There might have been done a great job with all these beta versions but im sure they will find more flaws after their commercial release. Im not in a hurry so i always have time to w8 Razz
im sure its faster than Vista although i ll w8 to see myself its faster than XP. Since i can od my job with Xp just fine im not gonna change soon to 7 ^^ maybe a year after their release or faster just in case i need them

Ok so here are the problems i discovered so far:

- Firefox stopped crashing, but when i close the application W7 pops out the crashing message anyway
- i had hard time installing CCC for my HD4870. I was unable to install CCC9.4 but i did manged to install CCC 9.3 after few attempts
- W7 doesnt recognize my antivirus programme BitDeffender 2009...but it works properly
- "open file - security warning" box is very annoying (how to disable?)
