Health System in your Country Empty Health System in your Country

What very unsatisfactory of NHS is that it is excessively general practitioner oriented. This takes away patients' right of being diagnosed by an expert specialist in many cases, resulting loss of weeks, months maybe even years.
I believe NHS registered patients should have been given the limited right of being able to make an appointment with a uni hospital specialist.

With the new UK Budget, this sounds twice as impossible now =(

Yes. Belgium has one of the best health care systems in the world. Patients can see a specialist at will (through appointment of course), at any hospital they want (I have a cardiologist in Gent, for example, despite living in the other side of the country). Pharmacies are widespread, and I think they are open 24/7. Health care insurance is state-controlled (hurray for welfare state) and reimburses a large part of your medical bills. Doctors are extremely skilled, hospitals are in good state and technology is up-to-date.

The only problem is that the social services are under more and more pressure due to illegal immigration, poor integration of legal immigrants (high socio-economic costs with little profit) and a developmental old-age society with a swindling middle class.

No

We like to give away money to forests and say we can't afford to keep hospitals alive.

Yes. Our health system is one of the best. It doesn't matter if you're rich, poor or homeless. Everything goes through the taxes that we pay to the public sector.

No..
extreme delays in many occasions for even important appointments, lack of funds in many hospitals, many doctors need extra cash to do their normal job >.>
They write prescriptions realy easy creating a huge debt due to all the medicines the ppl buy >.>
On the other hand hospitals dont deny treatment in emergency's, its easy i guess to find medicine any time of the day, i havent face a serious problem till now >.>
