Recovery Disc Empty Recovery Disc

My Toshiba notebook has a tool for creating recovery DVD's. Though I searched a lot, I can't find how many DVD's I'd need.
The amount of space I would need as DVD's, is it exactly equal to the amount currently in use on my Hard Disk?

Well to me it depends on whether you're doing a system recovery or "ghosting" where you copy absolutely everything. The system recovery would be a typical 1-3 DVDs.
