it looks a a rubber face (on the render), a bit ehm deformed, but perhaps that's what you are aiming for...

I would donate a new lcd screen to you if I had enough to pay for the transport. I have a old 17" LCD laying around, ViewSonic, quite good shape.
Well even if your Screen has been set to max Brightness, you can still adjust even more with software from the drivers. Do you have ATI/AMD or Nvidia?
