Ehm, NO?!!!

In rugby you can only pass backwards, an infinite amount of times. In AF you pass forwards or backwards, but only one time. Kicking the ball is not allowed in AF except when you're trying to get a field goal. In rugby you need to touch the goal zone with the ball, in AF you only need to enter it. The setup of players of rugby is way different than that of AF. The point system is different.

There is more different than alike between the two sports. And you would know that if you actually knew and watched both sports.
