My Future Desktop - help Empty My Future Desktop - help

Post by daryo Fri Oct 24, 2008 3:32 am

Ok, remember me putting together my own PC? Well i had to postpone that project because of travelling this spring and summer. But now im eager to continue.

So i bought few parts allready (ram, HD, PSU, chassis, DVD, monitor, ds-1283 fan, ...). Now i need help.

What mobo should i buy. Im thinking of getting one of those quad 9 series CPUs. Im not going to overclock things much...maybe just something little above 3.0 G but not much. Im going for quad because i find my self with 3, 4 or 5 applications running many times (browser, photoshop, coreldraw, media player, excel or word + antivirus + PC explorer and few others in the background).

Im not a hard core gammer but i do play games so im getting HD4870 (also because i'll be using 24" screen).

But once again...what mobo do u suggest (ddr2). Not high end product from different companies just something that is fairly cool (not hot) and has a nice bios and goes well with quad 9 series (possibly q9450 or q9550) and maybe later for crossfire with additional HD4870 (but just maybe after a year or so). I read lots of reviews and im even more confused than before (i decided to buy maximus formula but do i really need it?????) ... help... (something around 150€ so i dont exaggerate with rampage/striker or something like that in the end -_-')

I'd lend you some help but I'm outdated on motherboards, I'm sure Haldir can help you out on this one.

Can't go wrong with Gigabyte.

Perfect board:

Lots of features, room for upgrading to a second GPU, DDR2 1333, plus, it's really affordable.
