rather easily scared by video games *than horror movies.
Boomlala wrote:I am rather easily scared by video games *than horror movies.
Me too. In movies the scary feeling isn't so affective since we all know the characters are just actors and actresses. Also the stories and particular scenes in horror films are often so likely with each other that it gets frustrating.
Usually I watch horror films and they seem like comedy, which is sad. It would be cool to still get that creepy feeling..
Games, on the other hand, are scary. The fact that you can control your steps and actions in an oppressive environment makes the experience chilling. I even scare Doom3, lol.

I dislike both scary movies and games. Feeling tense isn't my idea of entertainment.
Re: rather easily scared by video games *than horror movies.
I laugh about horror movies, its just plain normal for me now lol.
in First peson shooters games I can get scared sometimes.. because you take the actions, you are the one getting slaughtered ( in a way ) and not the actor in a movie.

I wish I felt the same way.. Well, gladly the games still have the effect on me. I almost didn't have the courage to move on in Doom3, it was all dark and scary noices..
BioShock was quite scary, too. But I got used to its scary parts and when I got the certain feeling the game was just superb! If I had a good computer I'd definitely buy that game.

Play Condemned 1 or 2. I only played the demo of them both, but they had a great feeling. It was as if any moment some creep could show up, trying to kill you.

Re: rather easily scared by video games *than horror movies.
When I was little, I got nightmares from Prince of Persia (the original one).
I dislike the dark maze in E1M2 of DOOM.
I dislike the dark maze at the end of E1M7 in DOOM.
I dislike horror movies. All of them.
I disliked my first fort in TES IV: Oblivion. But that went away (luckily).
I dislike the Ghoul mod for DOOM II.
The weird thing is, when someone else is near (watching/playing/voip/etc) the tensity goes away and I can take pretty much everything. But when I am alone, damn...

hell yea mirrors was awesome
But I get scared of both games and movies.. In such games my eyes are usually 2 inches from the screen, which is deadly btw, then I scare the crap out of myself.. even games that aren't that scared, like Resident Evil 4.
But I laughed quiet hard at Hills Have Eyes.. I thought it was scary.. but it's just ugly and cruel...
But I hear in this topic that Dead Silence seems to be good ^^ I'll check that one out.

Mirrors was so predictable.
It was a little scary, but mostly grose lol.
Especially at the ending. XD

That's true! I could handle Doom 3 and almost Dead Space with friends around me.

Re: rather easily scared by video games *than horror movies.
yes
Its entertaining to feel frightened.
In real life if you have an option to either take a dark alley or a well lighted street to go home.. what would you take?

I think it's great to be able to be scared in a game. Game needs to have feeling in it, athmosphere.
