I listed Assassin's creed for the story and yes...u yare building your char trough that story...but you can't choose 1 thing over another...so half/half

sry but dont remember grinding KOTOR to lvl up. I did it with story questing only. I eliminated mobs only for the purpose to achive my goal.

Korean MMOs and WOWs are grindfests without any significant stories. The main goal is to grindfest to lvl up to the end. Sry but changing armor and staffs doesnt make a game RPG (not for me atleast).

Im playing AION right now...they put grindfest in quests. I still dont know the story of the game and im lvl 36/50.

Grinding as either means to level up or to advance a quest, doesn't make a difference.

RPGs all have grinding.

Nevertheless the whole premise of grinding disqualifying a game from being a RPG, is complete bullshit.

Not all games go overboard with it (like Korean MMO's tend to do), but in every RPG you can find a grinding element. In fact RPG quests are almost all the same. Go to A, Kill monster Type B n times, collect item C and return it to D, get reward E. Every quest can be formed as a combination of these elements. Sure, they make it sound nice by adding an epic story, an interesting location or an interesting boss fight, but you're doing the same thing over and over again, only sold in new outfits. In MMO's they just turn down the ornamental aspect because nobody gives a shit and everyone just wants to have some fun with friends.

This is just a staple of RPGs. Doesn't make them less fun though.
