3000 word paper sounds 'lot.

Depends on the subject. Personally, I find something relaxing about writing papers, especially coupled with good music.

Because there could be false information on it due to vandalism, especially with controversial subjects.

And in general, it is advised to get your information from specialized and credible sources, not an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia and Wikipedia can be used as a secondary source, but it is frowned upon to use such works as your primary research source. This may vary in different schools and different academic institutions.

I use Wikipedia as a starting ground, because it concisely sums up a subject in relatively clear terms, lists several angles on that subject (history, applications, pro and contra), and sometimes provides a list of several specialized sites. It's an easy index for when you're starting out on your paper.

in most cases, wikipedia is more thrustworthy than any other site you find on google :/
