What a dump - the political situation is terrible (although not as bad as Belgium or NL).

Agreed. Except a different age.Xris² wrote:Government, parliament, whatever. I'm only 17, I'm not really into politics and never will be.
I mean, it's not like I don't give a damn. I know things like that are kind of important, but they're just not interesting. I don't know much about politics, not to mention understand about it.
I try to learn the most important things from my mates, the rest I leave be.

You should see the situation here in Slovenia. We have interpellations of ministries every few months LOL. Coalition and opposition fight constantly. Government is weak with affairs popping out every week. In National Assembly people tend to leave im mass groups out of protests. There is no work done and everything is put to a halt. After the 2009 crysis we are barely managing and many experts predict that we will follow Greece. But unlike Greece we don't think Slovenia could survive and get it self out of the dump. Greece atleast has mass tourism.
Xris how can a parliament fell? I dont get it....government yes but parliament?
Why is that? Is power in government proportional to the number of votes a party gets? Does this happen often? It's interesting because I'm worried about this becoming reality for years to come in Britain
Coalition is formed based on similar views (in this case...left parties with highest vote rate). Similar parties allie them self. Presidents of those parties usually become ministers. The rest of ministers are sought out in the "same side parties". This makes governing more effective. The problem arises when opposition retains the power and contradicts on the work of coalition.
Slovenia wanted "the change" after 8 years of the same dull governmet. When new governemt was elected (left) along with new "cool" PM the old one became new opposition with a great power. Soon after the new government started with the work the polls showed more than half of voters would have voted for the old government if election had taken the place again (in crysis). The voice of opposition is just too strong thus our government performs weakly. The opposition, in my oppinion, trys to undermine and defame the work of ministries, searching for irregularities and creating affairs. Work stalls. There is no progress. Focus turns to solving politician problems. People are idiotic becuase they belive everything in the media. That is also why they are unhappy with our government. Also there was world economic crysis and idiotic public thinks it is the government's fault (like in other countries).

Alright I will be lawfully forced vote! But for some confounded reason flemish people can't vote for waloon politicians (and vice versa). I don't really want to vote that way. Wouldn't know for whom anyways. It's such bullshit.

Re: Belgian government fell
I'm not gonna say who you should vote for, as everyone should inform themselves and make the rational decision. That is how democracy ought to work, and we should reap the possibilities it gives us.
My personal opinion is leaning towards Open VLD (Flemish liberals), but I'm gonna inform myself more before making the actual decision.
Parties I would never vote for, are the N-VA and Vlaams Belang (both Flemish nationalists). They will do no one any good.

Re: Belgian government fell
I read today there won't be penalities if you don't vote, so I might not go. The system is fucked up anyways. There's no party worthy of my vote and I don't even believe in democracy.

Re: Belgian government fell
Voting is an obligation in Belgium, always has been. So it would be a first if it weren't penalized.

Voting is a right, not an obligation.
At least, it is in normal countries like the Netherlands.

Re: Belgian government fell
actually its obligatory here and if u dont go u r illegal >.>
ofc there r many cases where u can state reasons u cant attempt, like long distance, illness etc
Thing is that all the ppl i know that havent go to vote in national elections r just fine. They dont look which ppl didnt show up and by time the number of the no-voters is decreased. In EU elections on the other hand u go if u feel like it

Re: Belgian government fell
Every Slovenian must pay 168 Eur for this Greek mess. What a shit!!! You know how much UK or Denmark citizents must pay??? NOTHING!!!! They don't have to save euro...it's not their currency.
And those bastards Italians and Germans are willing to pay billions for Greece. But not to save it..they don't give a fuck about Greece's economy....they just want to save their investments into tourism they have made. We must pay simply because Greece destabilizes fucking euro. An expert on a meeting at work said today that he gives less than 20 years to exsistance of euro.
If you start saving money...save it in other currency...like swiss frank or something.

Re: Belgian government fell
Voting should be an obligation. It keeps down the power of extremist parties.
And yeah, Greece is putting a major damper on EU economics right now.

I don't care enough to find information about politics.. I hope a small summary of each party is given at votebox.

Re: Belgian government fell
Its strange how no1 understands that greece didnt get in crisis by itself but major economical interests want Greece to have a debt >.>
Propaganda is in every country, thats for sure, i understand it everytime i speak with other EU citizens or i read these kind of posts >.>
And yes Euro stars to show its weaknesses esspecially after Gremany's policy about loan to GReece. With the loan Greece took 1 week ago other economies r getting involved in EU (like US). Some countries r been benefit by this situation some not. Or should we speak about companies? About money and control? Capitalism has its limitations and the current banking system will always bring these unwanted kind of effects. I dont see major differences from the '30s crisis. The concept is still the same.
