Played it the this week i liked it !
somehow it keeps me thrilled dont want to post any spoilers but i like it after the 'ending' i was scared lol

It is a great game

Yea it was awesome. I might be a bit slow since it really took time for me to figure out the portal thingy.
Anyway I saw a dream where I played Portal and the next time I tried playing the game I knew it no problem. So THAT was kind of cool. =P

It's been a long time now, though. But yea the game was great

i know that lol i had that with a Wario game for Gameboy color and FF6 for ps1 ( ff6 was stuck for a year and then i dreamed about it )

but I never got why the cake is said to be a lie :/

because they promise you a cake when you are done but there isnt any cake

there is you can see it in the end. If you would complete the thing (without dying that is) you would even get the cake! Weird thing is that they try to kill you :/

yea well the game is made for testing the portal gun.. so they could use it in other games
but im pretty 'scared' after i escaped. so you wont follow the test route :O osmehow its thrilling :O like you can get caught every minute

lo llaughing so hard now im playing in the last level when im escaping and the robot girl thing voice over said: We had so much fun remember when the platform was sliding into th efire and we tried to kill you and i said goodbye and you escaped it was so much fun.. lol i was pissing my pant s( you have to hear it and then the fucked up robot voice with no emotion)

The cake Aperture promised you is the fire pit you were going into.

I thought it was kinda boring. The only thing that kept me going was the pitch black humor.

What troubled me was...

that when the cake was finally seen in the end, how on earth could it be in so good condition? I mean, not rotten, no mould, nothing. And obviously no-one had touched in ages, it was in so remote a place in the middle of that maze of pipes and such..

This means that the cake must've been something else than real cake, maybe plastic or metal. So the cake would've been a lie anyway, even if you had got to 'eat' it in the end.

Bah..

They're making Portal 2, by the way.

and hule well the robot took over the building so maybe he just made it because the game isnt played overyears.. its just one day i guess so maybe its just made that day

and maybe its plastic because it looked weird:P all shiney and stuff

there's a glitch (or easter egg) where you can actually get to the cake. Not eat it though.
But I still don't believe it is a lie. I think the phrase "the cake is a lie" has a much deeper and cryptologic background and it was just written behind some of the walls by precedent players to warn that you would be killed in the end. The cake was in fact the only goal for survival, the reason to finish the robot's game. Saying it is a lie is ment to rebel against the evil robot. The cake therefore exist, but would never be recieved as you end up dead.

You're really looking too much into it. It's just a joke.

They promise you cake. if you finish there goals..
but at the end the machine wants to burn you up.. the people before you figured this out ( thats why they wrote it on the walls with blood and stuff outside the trial rooms)
so you dont get any cake when you finish the goals because you have to die
BUT you escape thats why the machine is mad so then the cake isnt a lie anymore
