Re: Merry Christmas!
Then I would have to take the year-long baptism preparation program again.
And I'd rather give my liver than to EVER go to that brainwashing program again.

Re: Merry Christmas!
Maybe it wasn't brainwashing, but 1) it was boring as hell 2) it took away too much time, time I could've spent doing homework and 3) only 5% of the people were really christian. The rest of them (including me) did it for the presents.
Re: Merry Christmas!
Just to stirr up some more controversy, I'd say that both total atheists and fully religious people are equally wise/unwise.
Both ends believe strongly in something and have a constant need to justify their beliefs. =P

Re: Merry Christmas!
I couldn't care less if someone was religious or not. I can't stand it however when someone says "Shut up atheist" or something like that, in the same manner when I get annoyed if I see someone say "but you're muslim".
EDIT: forgot the negation

Goes both ways, also annoys when people say "shut up religious".
But those are usually the people who can't put up a good argument and lack the talent of justifying their arguments.

Re: Merry Christmas!
Who cares about religion?
Many wars have been waged, many people have been killed, because one's beliefs contradicted with the other.

According to that many people do.
Each person have their own attitude towards religious matters, and no-one should interfere with others' visions. That's what bugs in the humanity, people care too much about other people's business. =P
But anyway, no matter what you or any of us do, religions won't be wiped out. They'll continue affecting people just like they have done and still do.

Re: Merry Christmas!
Ofcourse I do.
But I ask myself Why? Why why why, let something so trivial be worthy of blood and hate?
A world without religion wouldn't be worse than one with religion. Maybe better, but people would probably have found something else to murder each out for.

There can't be a world without religion. If you ask me people have a inborn need to believe in something in their lives. That is always the case, I haven't met a single person who wouldn't have believed in something.
Wether it's a religion, a god or that religions are false.
People always believe. =P

I do not believe in atheism, neither in religions.
I don't beleive in what my senses can learn me, I only believe in logic.
cause in the end everything adds up, otherwise nothing could be. But even mind is not strong enough to comprehend. Making it all completely useless.
If there was a thing that some of us would call god, no religion would be the good one. Because they are all wrong. There just wouldn't be any way to know what to do.
Yes, Catholicism pulled the biggest scam in the history of mankind. And ALL religions have fought wars in the name of their gods, killing nothing but others of their gods creations.
So wether you believe or not: you're gonna die and be forgotten. There is no afterlife, and if there is; it's just another life, or something like it. I couldn't know, and noone could, never.

Re: Merry Christmas!
The main problem I have with christianity (I have a beef with every religion I know well enough to be able to have a beef with) is that they are too stubborn to go with the times. That's the problem when the leading figure is always 2 generations older than the currently active one. The other smaller problem I have is that they were basically the largest crime syndicate in the Mediaeval Ages.
And I ment religion as 'belief in divine phenomenon'. Surely, everyone believes in physics and sciences, but there has never been waged a war because of it.

Re: Merry Christmas!
ok..I can see that you believe in logics...but how can you prove then how did the world came together...how did the universe form...thats the question....honeslt yi dont believe God did this...but I have faith in Him

Re: Merry Christmas!
You can't prove how the universe came together. You can only create theories. And in my humble opinion, science does a better job in it than religion. But that's what I think ofcourse.
It's interesting to note that the christian church (the roman-catholic one) itself has stated the creation of the universe according to the story of Adam and Eve is untrue. They support the theory of the Big Bang.

Re: Merry Christmas!
I don't support neither one....so I would be very keen to find out.

Re: Merry Christmas!
But these topics are all just minor issues. The real problem comes when the religions (~christianity) clash with the science on very important things. Safe sex, euthanasy, homosexuality. And the actual problem is when governments listen to religion iwhen making these morally important decisions, because religions in general (islam is a major player here aswell) have shown themselves incapable of making such decisions.
Re: Merry Christmas!
dude why calling him him and wtf is it with the capital H ?
you can't know if he wants you to call him him, maybe he's a girl? maybe he's dead? and I could explain you the whole big bang (including sub-atomlic physics) but that'd be useless since the key to it is unknown. (we only know what happend 10^-43 secs after the explosion) And what happend couldn't probably even be described with the word 'happened'. And there couldn't be a way to know, neither as there could be a way to understand or even believe in it.
What i'm saying is that it's all useless and it doesn't even matter in the end ( with end being your death)
and if your god created everything, who created him then? To exist you need to exist, and how can he exist if he had to make everything? How can he be where there's nothing? Probably the answer is there is no 'before the creation' because time is far from what you think it is, and probably not understandable, or even describable.
Meaning again that everything's pointless, believing, existing, dying and not believing.

It's hard to believe they wouldn't have caused wars. They sound like things that could start a war equally as easy as religions when it comes to disagreements. =P At least I think there will be loads of wars 'cause of science, when more and more people start abandoning religion.

Only an unwise fundamentalist would believe the creation of the universe happen as it was written in the Old Testament. The stories in the Old Testament are rather ethical advisory stories and such, everyone knows they're not hitorically true.
