American football is good, but regular football (soccer) is better. I don't follow or play either of them. but anyway.

Although I'm not technically European, I'd agree with everything you said. I've never been a big NA Football fan, at least not until this year, really. I've been paying more attention and actually put a bit of effort into learning all the rules, and because of that, I find it a lot more interesting then before.

What's with all the padding? Shit, that stuff is like Army Basic x1000 in the off-season. They wear the gear for the same reason hockey players do. Hard contact. And that turf is fucking HARD! It's like going down on concrete.

Personally I'm not so fond of soccer. I don't know much about any leagues, players or such. I don't follow it on TV (partly because it's not properly shown.)
So in that way I don't like football and am still pure straight.

Although I like playing it ( I suck at it, though) and on no account hate it.

I'm much more a favorite of American sports than European ones.

Baskbetball, American Football, Baseball, instant fast-action playtime.

Soccer players need an hour to get the ball into a white box, rugby players defy the rules of physics (pass backwards to get forwards?) and cricket... Only Englishmen are able to understand cricket.

Neither AE or BE is better. What is better though, is to use the words with the least amount of ambiguity. Soccer has less ambiguity than football, so soccer would be a better word for it.
